This was very well attended with over 100,000 trade-only attendees. For the first time, SEMA opened its doors to the general public on Friday, 11/5/21, with a limited number of day tickets and admission to the after party event: SEMA Ignite. As is customary in the past, SEMA opened with the SEMA Monday Night Reveal on 11/1/21. For SEMA 2022, per Mr. Christopher Kersting (President and CEO of SEMA), a sixth category will added to the SEMA annual awards and this will reflect the electrification category. This is reflected with a new section called: SEMA ELECTRIFIED in the North Hall on the LVCC highlighted by an electrified 1966 Ford Bronco. Moving on with electrification, X-Men/Cyclops actor Mr. James Marsden, announced during the Monday night reveal a beautiful 1963 Buick Electra called "Joyride". He teamed up with Ant Anstead and his group converting the 1963 Buick Electra 225 using a Kamra Revero chassis. Also, at the Reveal, Nissan launced the 2023 Nissan Z powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Shown that night was a special edition called the Z Proto Spec limited to just 240 units in the US which includes a special Ikazuchi Yellow Pearl exterior, bronze-colored 19-inch RAYS aluminum alloy whees and leather seats with yellow accents: a sample unit was on display at the brand new LVCC West Hall. Ford introduced six (6) concept Broncos in their booth and Jeep also introduced a 3-row Truck Concept vehicle at the South Hall. AAPEX 2021 started on Tuesday, 11/2/21. With electrification as one of the main themes of the 2021 SEMA, the main theme of the 2021 AAPEX was ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). With this in mind, the very first Joe's Garage showcased companies emphasizing ADAS like Autel. A first at this year's AAPEX show, Joe's Garage was a 10,000 square-ft space at the lower level of the Sands Expo Center focusing on ADAS technologies. In next year's AAPEX 2022 show, rumors were that Joe's Garage will expand to the brand new Caesars Convention Center at the Caesars Palace. As mentioned above, SEMA Electrified, focused on the future of the automotive industry. Examples of these were the Ford Mustang Mach-E: the Shelby Concept was displayed at the booth in Central Hall. Similary, GMC, introduced a brand new concept called the Hummer EV at the West Hall. Finally, 2021 was highlighted by the Chip Foose Experience at the North Hall. Mr. Chip Foose, star of the cable series Overhauling', has been synonymous with SEMA since it's inception. In fact, 11/5/21, was even declared by the city of Las Vegas the "Chip Foose Day".
