Orlando, Florida (1/24/23 to 1/27/23): The 2023 Annual PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) Show commenced on 1/24/23 with the PGA Show Demo and Fitting Day at the Orange County National Golf Center (OCN) in Winter Garden, Florida. This featured more than 70 participating golf companies and education with regards to coaching, club-fitting and range operations. The PGA Show, celebrating it's 70th anniversary, then followed at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) with more than 800 companies and more than 250 brand new exhibitors encompassing the more than annual 80 billion dollar golf industry. This is a summary of a some of the brand new golf equipment introduced at this year's show. 1. CALLAWAY GOLF: the VERSA alignment principle has been applied to all putters in lineup. To include ODYSSEY VERSA Blades and Mallet putters, the high contrast alignment technology emphasizes the proper face angle all the way from face address to impact. Also included in the VERSA putter lineup is the new Red Stroke Lab Shaft which lighter by 7 grams by shortening and stiffening the steel portion. At the same time, the White Hot Insert uses urethane material in two parts to enhance feel and performance. The head shapes include: One, Double Wide, ThreeT, Seven: DB & S and Twelve: DB & S. Available in 2/23 at an MSRP: $259.99. 2. COBRA GOLF: the AEROJET drivers possess a brand new clubhead shape with enhanced aerodynamics allowing it to be the fastest driver offered about 1.5 mph faster than the previous LTDx LS models. Also, a brand new attribute of the Aerojet Drivers is an internal weighting called PWR-Bridge which is a 13 gram weight suspended above the sole allowing the CG (center of gravity) near the geometric face. This counterbalances the launch and spin produced by making the posterior of the head more aerodynamic. As a package, the Aerojet drivers produce a faster head with low spin. The lineup includes: Aerojet LS for the more advanced player with low launch and the Aerojet Max is more for the beginning player and offering more forgiveness. MSRP: $549.00. 3. SRIXON: The brand new SRIXON ZX Mk II Irons include the ZX 4, ZX 5 and ZX 7. Per Srixon, the ZX 7s are designed for the more advanced players. The unique PureFrame attribute for the ZX 7 results in minimal vibration and is forged into the iron body right behind the sweet spot as an 80% portion of 1020 carbon steel. MainFrame attribute is in all models to maximize flex which is a variable thinkness pattern of grooves and cavities milled into the back side of the face. The V.T. sole lessens aerodynamic drag to maintain speed through impact. These attributes are a significant improvement from the first ZX irons translating to better distance, feel and consistency. MSRP: $1,199.99 (Seven-piece Set). 4. TITLEIST: this company presented in their booth familiar irons, i.e. T100, T100+S and T200 irons, but each made of an all-black Titanium-Carbide Vapor finish and now called the BLACK T-SERIES IRONS. There are three (3) shaft options: True Temper AMT Black, AMT Tour White and Project X LZ (Onyx Powder Coat) all with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. The fully forged T100 irons are the most utilized on the PGA Tour as evidenced by the utilization in the 2022 Players and 2022 Open tournaments. With the new black finish available in 2 months, the finish has more durability and less glare translating to better alignment. MSRP: 1,699.00 (Seven-piece Set). 5. MIZUNO: the brand new S23 Wedges debuted at the 2023 PGA show. These wedges produces significant backspin from quad cut grooves with narrow mill for low lofts and wide and shallow mill for higher lofts. Hydroflow micro-grooves are laser-etched to prevent moisture buildup as well as face milling lines for roughness. The wedges are very durable due to 1025 boron and carbon steel producing better strength. MSRP: 160.00 each. 6. BRIDGESTONE: a new addition to the e-Series golf balls is the E9. Bridgestone, in collaboration with World Long Drive (WLD) participants, co-designed the E9. This ball will now be used in the WLD events starting in 2023. The E9 is firm compared to the average ball in the outer portion. The core is soft translating into better spin control and consistent ball flight. The E9 has a very unique dimple pattern: 330 dimples just like the old B330 ball and separates it from other modern Bridgestone balls. MSRP: $29.99. and finally, 7. MAKEFIELD: the Makefield Putter features the Path of Inertia tehnology. The specs of this putter include: CNC Milled, Aircarft grade alloy, Anodized in Stealth Black and a unique X-3 weight system creating a high MOI (Path of Inertia Technology). Available shaft lenghts include: 32" to 37", Center or Heel or Slant Neck, Lie Angle includes: 66 to 73, Black or Chrome shaft and standard or midsize grips. MSRP: $399.00. The highlight of the 2023 PGA Show Exhibits was probably the display of the 2023 Ryder Cup Trophy. To be held at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy, it will be the first time this competitive tradition will be contested in Italian soil this upcoming September 2023 between the United States (Mr. Zach Johnson: Team Captain) and European Ryder Cup (Mr. Luke Donald: Team Captain) teams.
